Cannot open and mount TIB backup archive.

Thread needs solution

Having an issue mounting a TIB backup archive. (not the same one as my other post which DOES mount just doesn't allow me to take data out) When I go to mount this image after some time an error message informs me that it cannot assign a drive letter to the backup partition. I had also received another error message prior to this saying something about archive corruption. Not quite sure how to work around this so I can mount the image and explore/retrieve my data. Again any help is greatly appreciated.

This is on the same PC as your other problem?

Does the file validate?

Does Explorer work on this file?

What version and build of TI are you using?

Was the image made with the same version that is trying to read it?

Thanks for the assist!

It's on the same piece of hardware my external hard drive. I'm a little confused as to how to get the file to validate. I went into tools and settings then into options then into recovery and checked the option for the validation but nothing happened. Trying to explore the data from the tib image fails as it says the volume cannot be opened. Trying to mount fails as well. This is a backup archive from a different machine however it's also failed when I tried opening at the machine in question as well so I'm not sure if there's a permissions issue.

I'm running True Image Home 2010 Build 6053 the same build everything was created with as far as I know. I've put off upgrading until I solve this not sure if that's the best idea though.

Thoughts?

Permission issues could be at the root of this problem, however you seem to have more than that if validate doesn't work at all.

Permission issues normally show themselves by reporting the file to have zero bytes.

Do you get any error messages when you try to validate? What happens if you use the context menu (right click on the tib file and Explorer should offer you a validate choice) to validate or mount?

Does the TIH log have any error messages in it after you have tried to to validate?

I would try a repair install of your TI 2010, if that doesn't work, then I would download the later build and see if that solves the problem.

Fails to mount a tib located on an external drobo USB drive (appx. 4tb - four 1TB drive array). Backsup and validates just fine till I try to mount in a new os.
Seems we cannot trust acronis 10 any longer...RIP

Hello Michael,

Thank you for your comment.

I'm sorry for you've faced this inconvenience. Please note that Acronis True Image Home 10 is an outdated product, it's no longer developed, supported and updated, and we cannot guarantee that it will work with modern hardware and OS.

I was wondering whether you can try and follow these instructions to make sure that the issue is not related to the archive itself.

Should the problem remain, but the backup restores and validates fine, please send us Acronis Info from the problem machine.

Should you need anything else or have any further questions - feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience, we will be happy to help you!

Thank you!
