Cannot properly browse to identify backup; install questions on TIPP 2011
I just upgraded from True Image Home 2010 to True Image Home 2011 (build 5519). Because of issues I saw on the forum, I decided to uninstall TI 2010 before installing the new version. (I have plus pack, and I uninstalled both.) The TI 2011 installed successfully. After rebooting, I installed TI PP 2011. This got as far as giving me a message that it was successfully installed, and it did seem to install, but the initial screen that started the whole installation process never went away. I just closed that window. While not a confidence builder, the PP seems to have installed. It shows in the list of installed programs, and on the opening screen. But I continue ...
On starting TI 2011, I noted that it had no memory of any of my prior backups. (I guess that got lost during the unistall -- I wish Acronis would tell us how to carry that information forward.) Anyway, I selected "browse for backup" and pointed to a directory with a backup and three incremental backups in it. I pointed at the 4th file, thinking it would recognize the series. It did not appear to do so. So I went back and browsed and selected each of the main and incremental files in the directory one at a time. Now I see one basic backup on the home page. When I select "see all versions" or something like that, it shows me a bar at the bottom of the screen that has boxes for the different incremental backups. At first, it showed only one today when I had done two. I discovered that, by right clicking that box for today, and selecting expand, it now shows two different ones today. However, I don't know if this is correct because the times given for both of today's backups is about an hour earlier than they actually happened, based on the times stored in the windows file directory. There is no way I can tell which file is linked to a given box because, when I hold the cursor over each box, it shows the partial file name only (name is too long and the increment number is off the screen). Further, no matter which of today's boxes I select, the comment at the top of the screen is from the first of today's two backups.
First, I need to know why Acronis can't get the comments and backup times correct. Further, how do I know which file is actually selected because the times and comments don't match what I saved there. I guess you are trying to simplify the interface, but I want a way to see what actual file I am working with -- which I could do in TI 2010 -- and to see the whole comment I left there. This is very disappointing. I am thinking of going back to TI 2010. Please advise.
