cannot recover files from backup

I am new to using this product.....I understood the instructions to tell me that clicking the 'Backup' on the left 'side bar' followed by clicking on the backup to be recovered from would initiate the process of recovering file(s). When I try that, nothing happened. Where am I going rong? I just created a full image backup of my single disc and thought I would 'experiment' just a bit and see whether I understood recovering something from the *tib in case I had to.
