Can't browse a Windows 7 partition backup/image

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I made two partition backups (disk backups) from two different PCs. One running Windows XP (58GB) and one running Windows 7 (244 GB). Both backups were done with the same way: encryption of 128 bit, one single TIB file, no compression, sector-by-sector. Both backups are located on an external USB hard drive. Both backups were also done by booting the utility ACRONIS boot CD.

I can open the WinXP backup with no issue, by different ways: mounting the partition and by using windows explorer to view the backed up files/folders.

However, I can't find any ways to view the content of the Windows 7 backup. When I open the TIB file with the windows explorer, I see the backup version (so far so good). Then, when I choose the backup verson (only one actually), I can see the C drive, but it shows empty (no file or folder). I should actually be able to see the entire content of the C drive that I just backed up, but I don't !

Then, when I try mounting the backup image, windows is telling me that I need to format the new drive/partition in order to view it?!?!!? Of course I click CANCEL. Then, backup image appears in my computer as a new drive, but I can't access it, it's asking to "format the new drive" again.

There is definetely something odd with the Windows 7 backup, as I have no issue with the WinXP backup at all. I made another Windows 7 full backup once again to eliminate the possibility of a first "wrong" backup, and I have the same issues.

Any idea what would make this windows7 backup "unreadable" ???

With 2013, there have been issues with backups created from the recovery CD and explored with Windows. It boils down to security settings it appears.
Do you see the same problems when the backup is created from within Windows?
