Can't Create ASZ or Boot Disk

Thread needs solution

 I have Acronis True Image Home 2010 installed.  When I try to create a Secure Zone partition on my hard drive, It goes through the steps to the point where the screen with the completion bars appears in a window, at this point nothing happens for a few seconds, there is no movement on the completion bars, then the request appears to reboot to complete the operation.  After reboot, the ASZ has not been created.  I turned off all startup programs and tried again several times.  Nothing works.

My next trial was to create a boot disk with Acronis TI Home 2010 on it, to see if the partition could be created from the boot disk.  However, the boot disk starts up Acronis TI all right, and then the screen goes black and nothing further happens.  I tried burning a second boot disk, with the same results.

I'm running Windows XP SP-3 on a Dell notebook computer, and the hard drive has plenty of space for the ASZ partition.

I would appreciate help with this.

Hello harmonp,

Thank you for using Acronis Products

There are two possible causes:

  • There are four primary partitions on the disk;
  • The file system is corrupt.

Solution

  1. Acronis True Image cannot create Acronis Secure Zone on a disk with four primary partitions. Convert one of the primary partitions to logical or create Acronis Secure Zone on a different disk.
  2. Try checking the disk for errors:
    • Go to the Command Prompt (Start -> Run -> cmd);
    • Issue the following command:

chkdsk DISK: /r

where DISK is the letter of the partition you need to check.

(!) Checking the C: drive may require you to reboot the machine.

Regarding the second issue I may recommend you create Acronis bootable disc from ISO image. Please download ISO image from your account under Registered Products and create Acronis bootable disc using third-party software.
