"Can't Find inc_b1_s8"? ... in TIH 2013

Thread needs solution

I have things set up to run daily, do full backup after 7 inc's, delete backups 8 days old. I'm now up to the 'b4' group. The 'b1' and 'b2' groups have already been auto-deleted and are long gone.

After the daily inc or full processes fine (green in the log), I get a popup message "can't find inc_b1_s8 tib file. Do something or I will close in 10 mins". Why in the frell is it looking for any 'b1' files?

JeeperDon,

You are right, it's appears to be looking for a deleted backup.

For whatever reasons, the option based on elapsed days seems to produce unexpected results. As you will need to start over with a new task, my suggestion would be to create the new task but use different options within the backup scheme.

I have had good results in using the scheme as illustrated in "figure 11-Inc" as displayed inside link #2 of my signature. Change the 6 and 4 illustration to fit your needs as I have found the option to keep x number of "recent version chains" to work better for me. Avoid or do not use the elapsed days or the space limitation options as the results may not always be what is expected.

Your current task involves some consolidation of old backups whereas my suggested options will be a clean keep and delete (no consolidation)--much like an escalator where the new backups come into being and the old backups are deleted.

Point the new task to a new empty sub-folder so there is no intermixing of new backups with old backups. Once the new task is completed, avoid editing the task as edit/changes can be confusing.
