Can't get a restore to work
So i have been using incremental backups for about 18 months and one of my PC's stopped booting up. The configuration was pretty simple 1SSD, 2 HDD, windows 8.1 ASUS Z87 Pro UEFI bios.
I replaced the SSD and tried to then restore the backup and thought , great this will be easy.
So my first issue, why an earth do i have to decide what partitions on the backup go where on my SSD drive. Why is this not automatic, i just want a system restore and know nothing aboout UEFI Fat32 boot partitions. I picked what i thought looked like the right mapping , the restore was sucessfull , yet the computer did not even boot up.
SO basically am i wasting my time and is Acronis totally useless on windows 8.1 UEFI machine, or is there someone out there who knows how to do the restoration. I can supply a lot more information but won't waste my time if the product is in reality not fit for purpose.
SO far i have lost all faith in the product and will be dumping it once i know what the experince of others is.

OK Pat i will try Disk backups instead of Partition backups next and see if that works on this PC. Clearly it seems that i am not going to be able to recover the system , but once i have a basic insatllation i will test Acronis and see if it works. If not i will report back , but i have to say , i am pretty certain i selected all partitions, and i am getting the dinstinct impression that there is no guarantee that Acronis works on UEFI and GPT systems.
I really hope this is not the case.
Is anyone else having these kind of basic restore issues ?.
Can anyone confirm that Disk backups works over Partition Backups ?

We strongly recommend full disk mode backups, to eliminate the "pretty certain" risk that it wasn't done properly. Disk mode ensures that you have everything.
