can't install ATI2013..get this error message..

Thread needs solution

I used to have ATIH2011 on this puter, but removed it somehow in recent years...It does not appear in "Programs and Features". I find no Acronis folder in "Program Files" nor in "Program Files (x86)"...

How did you "remove" ATI 2011? Did you use Windows Add or Remove Programs control panel, or ATI's own uninstall link, to properly uninstall it? Simply deleting files/folders is not the proper way to remove programs, and always leads to trouble.

First thing I'd do is to use try is to boot from the ATI bootable Rescue Media and make a full disk backup. Then you can try various removal methods, but can always restore this backup if anything ends in disaster.

Two possibilities:

1. You could reinstall ATI 2011, reboot, and then do a proper uninstall process. Afterward you should run the Acronis True Image Cleanup Utility, following all instructions.

2. You could try just to run the Acronis True Image Cleanup Utility, following all instructions.

Be careful to follow all instructions, including not allowing the utility to reboot until you've made the Registry edits.

thanks, I will look into and work with your suggestions..

Got the Acronis cleanup utility run, but still the same problem message..Running the "install/uninstall" fixit tool from Microsoft solved the problem on the ATI 2011 uninstall..

thanks,

In future, never simply delete files/folders to remove programs. That is an improper method and always leads to trouble. Always follow the software developer's recommended process, which may involve uninstalling components in a certain sequence (such as uninstalling Plus Pack before uninstalling True Image) and will use a proper uninstaller.
