Can't Install TIH 2011

Thread needs solution

Tried installing TIH 2011 at least 10 times. As the install nears the end of the process, (the application's icons briefly appear on the desktop), the install fails with this error.

The installation was interrupted before Acronis True Image Home 2011 could not be installed. You need to restart the installer to try again.

I followed the steps described in this link: http://kb.acronis.com/content/15190 but the install still fails.

I also ran the TIH uninstaller, (http://kb.acronis.com/content/14871), but am still unable to install...always getting the above error.

Attaching the install log. Very frustraited, please advise.

Mick,
Do you have a backup you can go back to prior to your installation trials? If I understand correctly, this is an upgrade?
If yes to both, restore your previous version, uninstall it and then reinstall 2011.

Also, check the install_log.txt that you posted for personal information...

Yes I have an Acronis image I can restore to. When I installed this upgrade initially I did not uninstall the 2010 version first. Maybe that's why this 2011 upgrade failed from the first install try. I'll try your suggestion and report back.

On the personal information in the install log...are you kidding me? I never suspected there would be personal info in that file and there is no way I'm going to slog through that thing to clean it. How can I delete it from this thread?

Thanks for your help!

Figured out how to remove the log file. Jeez, that thing is 2MB of very small print stuff. It would take me hours to clean it.

Mick, I am not positive about it, but I think I saw what could be your product keys in there, as well as some tasks names you had with the previous version.

Use the clean up utility to get rid of 2010 (see forum stickies)
