Cant move Win10 to new GPT ssd drive

Thread needs solution

I've been trying all day to move my Win10pro system to a new larger SSD. Full backup of C on an external drive and recovered it to the new ssd using the boot utility from a usb flash drive. Also tried via the windows TM application. No luck - "MBR Error 1" on booting everytime...

Only drive cloning has worked, but it has set the new drive to MBR! Also the recovery boot interface will not allow the F11 recovery option to be activated (error 07eX I think).

How can I get my OS to restore from backup and remain GPT (as it was on the smaller ssd)? The F11 option would also be useful... I've done recoveries before on Win7 before with no problem.

Thanks

JD

BTW, the TM option to restore the restore MBR along with the NTFS partition is available but when checked only allows me to select an MBR drive in my PC, not the new GPT drive I am restoring to...

JD, what version of Acronis True Image are you using here?

Please see KB 59877: Acronis True Image 2017: how to distinguish between UEFI and Legacy BIOS boot modes of Acronis Bootable Media which has screen images showing the differences in these two boot modes.

Within Windows, run the msinfo32 command which will show what BIOS mode your Windows OS uses, then choose the same BIOS mode when booting from Acronis Rescue Media.

Note: If you clone or restore a drive in Legacy BIOS mode it will be partitioned using MBR.  If you do the same in UEFI BIOS mode, it will be partitioned using GPT.
