Can't open TI

Thread needs solution

TI won't open all of a sudden. It has been working fine. In searching the forums I see this is a fairly common problem. I've tried scanning my C disk and turning off my firewall but it won't open. It seems the solution most often mentioned is to uninstall and install the program again. I wanted to ask first if that is the best thing since I have a lot of backups setup and would hate to have to set those all up again. Does anone have any thoughts on this?

Try a repair install first before going for a full install / reinstall.

To do a repair, just run the ATIH 2015 install program over the top of what you already have installed.

If you want to protect your current backup task configuration, then make copies of the Database & Scripts folders that you will find at C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome\ - this may be hidden on some systems - change the Explorer view option to shown hidden files & folders if so.

Thank you for your suggestion. I did the following:

- Tried the repair. It completed successfully but TI still wouldn't load.

- Did an uninstall/install after backup up the directories you mentioned. TI would then load.

- Replaced the two directories (had to use the schedule after root option) and TI would not load. So it seems the cause of all of this is that one of those files is corrupted, not that it matters now.

- Couldn't replace the files in the database directory so did another uninstall/install and IT is loading again.

But now none of my previous backups are presnet. I tried the Add Backup but it only lets me add one incremental file. There are at least a hundred so that is not a good option. Plus, for the one I added I wanted to recover a file from it but the only option present is restore the whole disk.

I tried adding back all of the files in the scripts directory but I don't see that they made any difference.

Is there a way to recover all of my backups or are they lost?

If you still have the backup of your Scripts folder, then just restore this back to the original location to get back all your backup task configuration.  You will probably need to validate the tasks to get the database back into sync with your actual backups.

Great, things are improving. I copied all of the script files and now my original backup list is showing. But I don't see a way to " validate the tasks." When I click on one of the items in the list, only the Backup Now button shows. I see in the advanced settings their is a validate setting but I'm guessing that is for when the backup runs. Please explain how I can get each of the items in the backup list to show the files on the disk.

In your backup task list, do you see the correct Source and Destination information for each task?

Are you clicking on the (V) icon on the right of the task name to see the Validate option?

See screen shots below from my system with ATIH 2015.

No, I don't have those options. I just have Edit, Clone, Remove From List and Delete as shown in the attached.

Thanks for the screen pic, I notice that you also do not have the option for Open Location shown, which is probably why you do not get a Validate option - Acronis must be able to access the backup files in order to validate the task.

Is your K:\AcronisBackups\ on a local or a network drive?

K:\AcronisBackups\  is an external drive on my pc. I thought maybe there was a setting I missed when installing it, like add to menu, so I uninstalled and installed again. When it opened, before I copied any script files, I created a new backup and ran in. I wanted to see if it had the Validate option. When the backup completed, all of the backups on the disk were listed and each had the validate option. So it must be like you said - it couldn't find the path. I guess that was set when the new backup was ran.

So the result is that everything is back to how it was. I tried retrieving some files and they were there. I truly appreciate you taking the time to help with this. Hopefully it won't happen again but I will make a note of this thread to know what to look for. Thank you. :)
