Can't Recover a File

Thread needs solution

I’m using Acronis True Image 2014 to do full backups once a week on outboard drive K, as well as daily incremental backups on outboard drive J. I need to recover one file from either of the backups, but when I click the Recover button for the Weekly Full Backups entry on the Acronis Backup and Recovery page I get the message “Cannot find version 1; You may have moved or deleted it” even though I have eleven full backup TIB files on that drive.

The Daily Incremental Backups entry on the Acronis Backup and Recovery page button doesn’t have a Recovery button for some reason, so using the Windows file manager, I located the daily incremental TIB files on drive J, selected the date I wanted to recover, attempted to open it, and that didn’t work either.

This is my first attempt to recover anything using this utility, so I’m not very familiar with it. What am I doing wrong and how can I recover my file?

Thanks,
Joe Wharton

Note the backup files on drive J must also have the base full backup as the incrementals is dependant upon the full and all must be together in the same folder. All the files in that chain will have the same B#.
For example , the first Full will be B1_s1_v1 and the next inc will be B1_s2_v1, and the next inc will be B1_s3_v1.

Look at my signaure link 3 below and then inside that link, look at item 5 and 5A.
That might get you started.

When you get the error message on drive K, click the ignore option and see if you can use an alternate Full.
Any of the full should be usable if it contains your file.

Grover, thank you so much! Using your instructions in links 3-5 and 5A I was able to locate the file I wanted and restore it. The one quirk was that I was able to open the backup file and even print it, but Copy was grayed out and wouldn't allow me to copy it to the clipboard. I finally figured out that I could drag a copy to the folder where I wanted it and that worked. You saved me weeks of reentering data and I much appreciate it.

Joe
