Can't stop a backup to change its settings
I'm running Acronis True Image 2015 for PC and Mac for 3 Computers (sorry, I don't see version or build numbers anywhere) on 64-bit Windows 7 with Service Pack 1.
I have a scheduled Incremental backup running that should be cleaning up the target disk but isn't. The disk is now almost full. Why it's not cleaning up is a different question, but to troubleshoot the problem I must first stop the backup from running so I can open the configuration to examine its settings.
When I click on the backup in the list under My Backups, I see that it's stuck in the "Calculating time remaining..." step. Clicking the Stop button (or right clicking the name of the backup in the My Backups list and clicking Stop from the dropdown menu) brings up a confirmation dialog. When I click Yes, the dialog disappears but the backup continues (calculating the time remaining) and never stops or progresses.
How can I stop the backup so I can examine the settings?
(And if you have an idea why the cleanup is not working when I'm certain I had the automatic cleanup settings enabled, I'd appreciate some help with that issue too.)
Thanks,
William Bowlus-Root

Thanks for your quick reply.
That's the problem. When I right-click the task name or click the downarrow on the right side of the task name, the only item in the dropdown menu is "Stop". Clicking it brings up the dialog asking me to confirm I want to stop the task. Clicking the Yes button dismisses the dialog, but the task does not stop. How else can I stop the task so I can delete it and create a new one?

Go to c:\programdata\Acronis\TrueImageHome\scripts
Each listing in this folder is as backup task. Delete them all if you want to start over with new tasks.

That's the problem. I can't delete the task until I can stop it. It's stuck in the "Calculating time remaining..." phase and does not respond to the stop commands on any of the buttons or menus. If I try to restart Acronis True Image, it immediately restarts the backup task and it hangs in the same place.
How can I STOP the running task?

Do be sure that the backup storage target disk is attached and recognized.
Try booting into Safe Mode and then delete the script from Windows Explorer without attempting to open TrueImage.

I have exactly the same problem as the poster. How can I check which script applies to which backup? I don't want to delete them all because I would then have to set them all up again instead of just one.

Fixed it I think. The TIS files in c:\programdata\Acronis\TrueImageHome\scripts are xml files - opening them up in Notepad makes it obvious which one applies to which backup as the name is in the "left angle bracket display right angle bracket" field near the top (can't show the xml element here because the forum software sensibly removes these for security reasons). I deleted that script, started TrueImage and was able to create a new version of that Backup (also had to restart though to get it to run because it just showed as queued when I started). Did this without invoking safe mode (which may or may not be advisable).

Seems this sort of problem has been unsolved for years. What crap.
Seems this program is a scam since it so often doesn't work and the programers don't fix things.
