Can't update Vista after using Acronis 2014

I used acronis true image 2014 in November 2014 and haven't been able to update Vista since.  The most recent Vista update was around four days prior to using Acronis to clone my drive so I suspect the newly cloned drive has the problem.

I tried updatig Vista and the update service won't even run.

I ran Microsoft's Fixit program that targets Vista updates issues and it fixed three but couldn't fix the error:

"Service registration is missing or corrupt."

Its likely this is the core reason I won't be able to update Vista until this issue is fixed.  I suspect cloning the drive caused this issue to arise.
