can't upload

I was doing an online backup. It ran for many hours then stopped. The log says "failed to update data to data server" and to check my internet connection, which is now working fine. It is no longer uploading. If I click Back Up Now it says the task is no longer running. I don't want to start my upload over again. What do I do? Does the complete backup fail if my internet goes down for a while?! This is very disappointing and makes me want to get a refund if we can't fix it.
