Can't use a Ximeta NDAS drive with the ATIH 2011 recovery disk

Thread needs solution

Hello,

I have a 1TB NDAS disk connected to my router that I would like to use as a wireless backup repository. But ATIH 2011 does not seem to cooperate with me!...

Here is the steps I am following, I hope I missed something because I really want this to work:

1- Boot ATIH 2011 level 6868 Recovery mngr disk
2- Choose "Backup my disks" ; the problem is the same with a restore operation
3- Click "What to backup" then Next
4- Create a new archive; click on "Browse"
5- On the menu bar top right, click "Mount a NDAS device"
6- input ID and Key
7- Click "Connect"
8- ==> GONE WITH THE WIND, TO NEVER COME BACK!... The window sits there with the hourglass displayed; the machine must be hard reset to reboot any operating system.

Oh, forgot:

1- This disk can also be connected in a USB 2 plug in which case it works well.
2- Yes, the drive has his MAC address registered in my router.
3- Yes, I can access it wirelessly from Windows XP and 7.
4- I emailed Ximeta, they said this must be a software issue since the drive works in other (above) circumstances.

Can you access your device through the network folder in the destination selection dialog?

Hi Pat,

No, I can't even see the drive. The procedure above is supposed to happen in order for the drive to be seen in the destination forlder.

Ah, well!...
Any idea if they are going to remove this limitation anytime soon?
Anyone has any idea how can I get around this? I have a desktop (Win XP SP3) and two lap tops (Win 7) and a 1TB HDD having a USB2 and an RJ45 connectors (exclusive use). I also have a WiFi router that has 4 RJH45 and 1 USB2 connectors. Is it possible to connect all these equipment to do backup and restore without having to transfert cable from here to there? I have not yet tested the USB connector on th router, but if the keyword is Wifi, I don't expect it to work...

OH WAIT...
There might be a confusion here...
The actual configuration having the problem is not using WiFi. My desktop is connected to the WiFi router through an RJ45 cable, as well as the HDD. So despite the fact that the router is WiFi, the Desktop-HDD in not using it. Wright or wrong ?

You are right.

I am coming back to my question. When you choose what to backup, browse, do you see the network folder in the left panel? Can you unfold it and see your share on the network?

I contacted Ximeta technical support, they say the problem is within the software and suggested several tests; here are the results that I also sent them and am waiting for there comments.

1). Connect the NDAS as a USB drive, Acronis Recovery software works fine.

2). Connect the NDAS to the router and the router to the PC with an RJ45 cable, the NDAS is powered on, the registration phase starts but the program never comes back.

3). Same as #2, but the NDAS starts powered OFF, the registration phase starts and comes back with messsage "Cannot connect to the device, retry or cancel", now turn the POWER ON, and hit Retry, the program also never comes back.

4). The NDAS is connected directly ti the PC with the RJH45 cable, reacts exacly like #2.

Any idea ?
Is there any way we can get this info to Acronis support ?
Thanks for your help.
