Change cluster size when upgrading disk?

Thread needs solution

I have a W2K system with 512 byte clusters resulting from CONVERTing from FAT32 to NTFS (before I investigated the consequences of taking the defaults). I would like to upgrade the disk and change cluster size during upgrade. Can I format new disk with 4K clusters (default), COPY the partition then fix MBR/boot issues with Recovery Console? Pagefile.sys is on another partition now due to disk space on boot partition.

Hello Ron,

Thank you for your interest in Acronis True Image Home software!

Let me shed some light on your concern.

Unfortunately, it is impossible to change cluster size by the means of Acronis True Image during the restoration. It will recover your backup archive as it was created. During the restore True Image will delete the destination partition and recover file system that has been backed up previously, so cluster size in your case still will be 512 bytes.

However, I've forwarded your suggestion about changing cluster size to the appropriate department and probably this feature will be available in future versions of Acronis software.

Please reply to this thread if you have any additional questions.

Thank you.
