Changing backup settings requests windows credentials but fails

Thread needs solution

I am trying to change some of the options of one of my backups (like the disk space alert level under which it should issue a warning).
When I click "SAVE" at the end I get a dialog asking for my Windows credentials, but even though I am 100% sure that they are correct (after all: I am constantly logging in with these!) that dialog is coming back - obviously ATI or Windows refuses them.
I tried "<user>" and "<pwd>" as well as "<system_name\user>" and "<pwd>" but neither worked.
Exactly what credentials and in exactly what format does this darn SW expect my credentials? It can't be that one can't modify any settings but always has to delete and re-create a backup setting!

Acronis has some issues with correct handling of credentials.

I went back and forth with first line tech support a while about this they do not understand what a credentials is. Eventually someone further up the chain got it, admitted it was wrong but said they doubt if anything would be done to fix it.

From their used car salesman approach to marketing lately, I'd say they are in the process of have recently been sold and actual support is a thing of the past.

Acronis True Image 2015 is rubbish and i've not been able to take a backup yet with it. I keep getting the "Enter your Windows credentials" box and it won't accept anything I put in. I'm trying to get it to backup to a Samba shared disk on my Fedora server, and have had to create a samba user and give it a password. This worked when adding the destination, but as soon as I try to backup, I get the windows credentials box. Why is it so hard to use ATI ?
