Cleaning up nonstop backup
The manual says that over time nonstop backup will fill up all available space. To keep this from happening you can clean up the backups by deleting selected times. The manual says to click on backup and then non stop backup. It says that in the right pane there will be the option to clean up the backups.
Guess what guys, no such option is there. The only options I can find are configuration options as to place of storage and disks to backup. Already ordered larger size external drive due to use of this feature but even 1 terrabyte will fill up eventually.
An answer to this would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much. Really intuitive isn't it? Great manual isn't it?

I have to say that although I have chosen to stick with TI 2009 I have read the blurb regarding NSB and I have to confess to being confused. If you select NSB as an option you want to use then do you still do full image backups e.g. as in other versions of TI or does NSB include a full image backup as part of the utility

NSB works almost the same way choosing 'incremental' would as in image.
The difference is that the first 'FULL' is eventually combined with the subsequent incrementals.
So what you see in the Timeline folder excluding the metadata folder would be.
Initial Image.
Image slice_1 (upto 1GB)
Images slice_2(upto 1GB)
etc etc,
Then (in theory) after 30 days all the slices get consolidated into the FULL, and then the next set of incremental slices start. I haven't run NSB long enough to discover if indeed it does consolidate, and if it then creates a new 'full' or just produces more'slices' that get consolidated into the original full.

Hi I am using build 7,046 of TIH 2010.
My C; drive is 55Gb, and is currently using 200Gb on my 250Gb extenral hard drive for nonstop backup.
I followed Colin's clear instructions above, but I do not have the clean up llnk shown below my H drive line.
Please can you help to show me how to clean up the external hard drive to reduce its size

OK, from another of Colin's post I have found the clean up option I had not picked up you need to click on the active drive to view the clean up button). Many thanks Colin
I now see I can set the slider to delete a month, week, etc.
Will these delete all files over a month old, or only duplicates, such that i will always have an up to date back up
Lookingt forward to yuor assistancefor a newbie

Great info, but the cleanup function doesn't work AT ALL on my computer. I've been through it many times, told it to remove all but the last 30 days' worth of data, and confirmed deletion. Then nothing deletes, and nonstop will not turn on anymore...buggy! I have win 7 x64.

I am using latest build of TIH 2011. I'm using nonstop backup of a complete disk, and my backup disk is getting full. The cleanup routine says I've deleted everything older than one month. It lies. The file remain on my backup disk. I'm unhappy that Acronis has not replied to any of the previous complaints about this problem. Anyone else found a solution?

No solution I'm afraid. But this thread seems to be about the same problem, and Acronis have said they can't reproduce it internally but are offering to investigate further if people provide some data & allow Acronis to remotely access their systems.

I'm really frustrated at the apparent lack of attention to this matter. I'm glad to allow you (Acronis) to remote into my system if it will help, as I'm sure many others on this forum would.
It's been a LONG time for this not to be fixed, and there are a LOT of complaints here; I really don't understand how this can be so "hard to reproduce." With this many users exhibiting the issue across so many different hardware configurations, for such a long time, it seems to me someone isn't trying very hard to find/fix the problem.
It goes to the heart of what it means to offer a product or service. X was promisted, and not delivered. We paid for it. We are simply asking you to look into this, and deliver what you promised. At this point, a free upgrade to the next (working) version would start to be about the right response. Along with a fix.

Hello all,
Thank you very much for your posts and your patience.
I am very sorry for the inconvenience but we are currently working on resolving this issue.
It would be really helpful to us if you could post about this issue in our main discussion thread which is here and let me know if you have additional questions.
Thank you.
