Cleaning Up Older Versions
Hello,
I am using ATI 2013.
Can somebody tell me how to clean up old version chains from a partition backup?
Neither 'delete version chains older than..' or 'store no more than..' seems to be working?
If a make a change to these setting in a backup scheme, should it take effect immediately?
Is there a way to manually delete older versions in a partition backup without corrupting the database?
Thanks

Thanks. i will look at the example in detail.
Is there any kind of editing of a backup task that is safe? It seems to me that if editing a backup task is so dangerous, it should be blocked are at least documented.
When I mentioned deleting older versions, I meant safely within ATI 2013. In fact what I want to do is delete an entire disk backup chain without screwing up the datebase. I know we can select recover for file backups and see a list that can be delete, but I do not see something similar for disk backups.
BTW, is there a way to copy a backup task to a new task without redoing?
Thanks

Extracts from my referenced link.
In my opinion, the only edits I will do is ones which change the schedule or stop/start a task. Any edit which is a change of configuration, I will not do. Yes, I agree. The editing usually do not produce the expected results and do nothing but confuse the user and the program.

When deleting, this is one method especially if you have chains you wish to keep or want to continue using the task after deletion because this only deletes tib files, and does not delete the task.

If you wish to delete the and all the files the task created, from within the specific chain, you can click the gear and choose the delete option.
