Client has no Domainconnection after Restore an Image

Thread needs solution

My Client has Vista Ultimate with all ServicePacks and Patches installed. After Restore an Image with True Image 2009 the Computer has no connection to the ActiveDirectory Domain.

If you reset the computer account in the Domain, you can reconnect to the Domain. After that the client work fine.

With Windows XP you don't have this Problem.

Has anyone an idea?

Hello Heino,

Let me shed some light on the issue.

Most likely, Active Directory's certificates were expired and that's why restored machine can't join the domain.

Thank you

Thx for your answer!
But can you explain your answer?

What did you mean with "ActiveDirectory certificates"?
The Problem only appear with Windows Vista!
On Windows XP we don't have this problem!

The Domain is Windows Server 2003!

Hello Heino,

Thank you for posting your question, I will be happy to help.
The issue doesn't depend on the operating system you use.
Active Directory Certificate Services (AD CS) is an Identity and Access Control security technology that provides customizable services for creating and managing public key certificates used in software security systems that employ public key technologies.
In other words, domain controller uses Active Directory's certificates to communicate with the computers in the network. Domain controller changes Active Directory's certificates from time to time, the time interval is variable.
You created a backup file, then domain controller changed Active Directory's certificate for the current machine. Then you restored the backup, but the restored system has an old certificate, and the system is unable to join to the domain automatically. You should join the computer to domain manually using credentials of domain administrator.
If the provided information is not clear or if you have any other questions do not hesitate to post them and we will be glad to answer.
Thank you.
