Clone failure
I have used Acronis True Image sicne the 2010 version and always found the automated cloning process easy and reliable. In 2012, which I just upgraded to, I go trhough the process and when is is detecting the duration for the operation the computer/programme closes down and my computer reboots. Does anyone else have this issue or does anyone know how to correct.

Ghost,
Did you try the clone when booted from the TI Bootable CD?

@ Ghost:
Excuse me if I intrude into the discussion.
This advice has been given to me long ago.. Honestly I did not try. It might work.
But I believe that software should work in a "normal" way, without having to resort to "alternative routes". Right?
I personally want to find the solution to the problem, not an alternative way to make it works. Also because I can make ATI work even with my "barbaric" method: starting the application again and again until it works.

On advice from Acronis I created the bootable disk and tried this but still continue to get the 'Clone failed' message. I have not heard anything from Acronis for several weeks now so obviosly they don't care past the point of sale once they have been paid. I think the obvious solution now is to go back to the 2011 version which served me well and wait for them to realise 2012 does not work and they fix it by issuing a patch. Only problem is, how do I revert to the 2011 version without loosing my settings?

Ghost Rider,
If you have the bootable CD for other versions, just boot from the TI CD you want to use. Installation is not necessary if you only use the CD.
If you want to use the clone feature, my suggestion would be to boot from the CD and select the manual method. Also, the "as is" function seems to work very well or you can use the manual method and change the size of the partitions.
The method of creating a disk option backup and restoring the backup is still another way to creating a duplicate disk. Many of the regular users prefer this method as the source disk is not at risk as it is not attached.
This is a link to the Acronis KB article on cloning.

When you had 2011 installed, if you created a backup, you can use restore your 2011 backup so your computer would be the same as when you took the backup.

Thanks GroverH,
Unfortunately I do not have the Bootable Cd for 2011. I will try the disk backup option as it looks like I can schedule this to happen automatically once a month. Does this process take long in time for a 2TB disk and does this give me full recovery flexibilty as the clone process did?

If you are a registered owner of 2011, you can download the 2011-bootable media ISO download. Then, burn the iso to a CD as an image and your result will be normal bootable 2011 CD--identical in content-just like the 2012 version.
if the backup is a backup which includes all partitions on the disk, then yes, the restore it will create a bootable replacement disk.
I can't answer you question about time. It all depends on used space and the speed of your target disk.

Thanks GroverH, I downloaded the 2011 boot files and created a boot disk but when I run the system from this it still fails with the same error message and automatically reboots the machine to windows. So the problem is still there so I guess I will have to go with a disk backup, maybe.
I am extremly dissappointed with Acronis as I have logged several fault notices on their supposed 'support' link but have received nothing back in any shape of form, looks like I may have to abandon Acronis and go to one of their competitors to acheive what Acronis in the past provided of which I was a strong advocate.

Have your checked the source disk for errors just to make sure that is not an issue?
From a command prompt
CHKDSK C: /R
A reboot will be necessary before the check.
The results will be reported in the Events section under applications.

Yes I had completed a Chkdsk and it found no errors. Given the non response from Acronis I have uninstalled 2012 and now reinstalled 2011 and everything works fine. I will now leave it to Acronis to resolve the problem (they may even reply to my various forms of corresspondence) and fix the obvious glichs. I will not be upgrading to any other version over 2011 in the future unless I can be suitably assured that ther are no problems with later versions.
Thanks for your time and assistance it has been more useful than the Acronis support techs.
