Clone to Hybrid HD-Windows Update failure
I recently installed a new Seagate Desktop hybrid 2 GB SSHD on my desktop computer running Windows 7 with all Microsoft updates/patches installed. Also, I have the current release of Acronis True Image 2014, Norton Internet Security and Norton Utilities with all updates. I always do all the Microsoft patches every Patch Tuesday and install all application program patches.
I cloned the computer’s HD with the Acronis program to the hybrid and it appeared to work just fine and it was a bit faster than my normal HD. Here is an odd problem. When I open the Windows Update box in the Control Panel, the icon that is normally a green shield shape with a check mark was red with an X. When tried to start the Check for Updates process, I get an error dialog box that includes “Windows update cannot currently check for updates, because the service in not running”. I rebooted the computer several times and got the same error. Next, I installed the last backup HD and did the Windows updates normally. Then I formatted the hybrid HD and recloned the HD from my last backup. I got the same error. So it appears that there may be something odd about how Acronis works with the hybrid HD.
Thoughts????????????????????????

This might be a reoccurance of a problem reported since 2012 on all ATI versions and is mentioned in several older forum entries.
Caused by the drive change, several HW parameters changed.
Check if your PC has Intel's RST (Rapid Storage Technology) Software installed.
If yes go to Intel support pages to download and reinstall on cloned drive.
Then restart system - Windows Update should work.

Thanks,
How do I check to see if RST is installed?

Look in Device Manager, Storage Devices, right click choose properties, click on driver tab. If shows Intel driver then IRST driver is installed.
