Clone makes both disks unbootable

Thread needs solution

I have used Acronis 9 for several years and I always use the clone feature to backup my entire HDD.  I recently upgraded to Acronis 2009 home and now when I do the exact same operation (a clone) I wind up with two HDDs that wont boot.  This happens about 60% of the time.

My system is an ASUS A8V-XE with AMD XP64 4200 cpu and 2 GB of mem with a 300GB RAID HDD

I have tried both the bootable CD and cloning from Win XP and both fail as described.  My Acronis is at the 9791 level.

I have tried doing a backup (incremental or Diff) and both work fine.

Hello Patrick,

Thank you for using Acronis Products

Have you detached the source drive before first booting from destination (cloned) drive? Have you checked both disks for errors? Please do the following:

- Go to the Command Prompt (Start -> Run -> cmd)

- Enter the command: "chkdsk DISK: /r" (where DISK is the partition letter you need to check) for every partition that is visible in My Computer. Please note, that checking the C: drive may require you to reboot the machine.

Yes, I always disconnect one of the identical drives (source or clone) before I bootup.  I never had to do a checkdisk on the drives when I used

Acronis 9 but I will try that??

Thanks
