Clone resulted in Bluescreen and Endless reboot
Hello,
using my Acronis True Image 2011 14.6868 boot disk i cloned my old hard disk ( Windows XP Pro ) to my new Velociraptor using auto method, all seemed to go well and 7 minutes later it said " succesful" !!
BUT.... on booting with the clone on my Velociraptor just before the desktop is due to load it bluescreens with a load of text and reboots quickly only to do the same again in a repeat cycle.
Whats going on do you think ? Thank you.

Hi Scott ,
Only the cloned drive was connected at the time of boot. I could try a BSR but im doubtful thats the cause because i see the windows logo and it doesnt fail until just before it reaches the desktop, this is a desktop pc as well. . The drive i am cloning to is slightly smaller than the old drive 300GB as opposed to 320Gb but only 46GB was used. Thanks.

Having the same problem. i.e. cloning process runs O.K. and fully completes.
After re-install of the cloned drive (no others), Win XP logo appears and then
multiple listings occur. System continues this in a loop until shutoff of PC.
Tried the cloning with selected NT signature & no NT signature, same result.
Most likely a MBR problem or registry conflict.
"you need to do a boot sector repair with the windows install disk."
Windows Install disk indicates a major drive problem and halts.
No opportunity to fix the MBR via the Install disk.

Appears to be a conflict as the Registry loads, e.g. test failure of motherboard I.D.,
as the clone boots O.K. in the original Dell but when installed in another same
E5410 it fails.

It coudl be due to the fact that OEM versions of Windows aren't transferrable to different PCs. Or it coudl be a diff in hardware -- even within the same model, OEMs will often use diff parts depending on supply, part prices, bug fixes, etc.

As originally thought, the problem occurred during processing of the Registry.
The bios was set for an AHCI type of drive controller vs SATA. The XP drivers
defined in the XP Registry are only compatible with SATA and not AHCI. Once the
bios was changed, WIN XP loaded O.K. So, TI2011 cloned the drive perfectly
and without the NT signature being selected.
