Cloned 128 gb disk to 275 gb disk. Windows still shows it as 119 gb capacity disk (windows 10)

Thread needs solution

I've upgraded my laptop ssd to a new larger one. Everything went great and windows works correctly. The problem is that Windows does not seem to understand that the new disk is larger.

In the file Explorer it says that the disk has a capacity of 119 gb, while in setting it says that the disk is 256 gb and almost filled. In the settings it also says the disk is filled with 157 gb och system filed and reserved space.

I have googled around and found no help at all. Do anyone have any ideas?

Using Windows 10 and acronis true image 2015.

I might have found the solution! In partitions I found a reset partition of 134 gb! Removing that would probably free up some space

Titus, welcome to these user forums.

When doing cloning there are opportunities to automatically resize partitions or to do the clone 'as is keeping the sizes of the source drive.  It sounds as if you have done the automatic resize but one of your Recovery partitions has taken all the new space on the drive.

I would recommend downloading / installing a copy of a free Partition Manager software such as MiniTool Partition Wizard and using this to resize your 134GB partition back to the size it was on the original drive, then give the freed space to your main OS partition.
