Cloning from a 2 Hard Drive Configuration to a single Hard Drive
Here is my question. What is the best way to clone from a 2 HD configuration to a single HD configuration? I have 2 500 GB HDs that are in a RAID configuration and what to install all on a single Western Digital 2 TB HD. What is the best way to accomplishing that without reinstalling every thing?? HELP!!! Thanks

Hi Pat L,
Thank you for your reply. I am not sure how it is setup. How do I figure that out?? It is RAID 0.

Enter your machine bios and choose/view SATA configuration, you should see what Mode your installed disks are setup as. If IDE or AHCI are shown then your raid is configured in Windows and would be what is known as a software raid setup. Raid 0 is a stripped array where data is split between 2 drives having no mirror or parity and is therefore a high risk array as if you loose 1disk you loose all data.

I just went into my BIOS and checked the SATA setup. Where you have a choice of RAID or ACHI, it is set on RAID. So what does that tell you?? The BIOS is American Megatrends!! Is that the info you need or do you want me to take another look?? Thanks!!!

Great!
Is it a laptop or a desktop machine?
When you boot your machine on the Acronis recovery medium, does Acronis running from the medium see your raid 0 as a single disk or as 2 separate disks?

Thank you for your patience. What with what has been going on in Baltimore, my interests have been elsewhere than my computer. When I installed the True Image 2013 software, it recognized the RAID 0 as a single disk. I connected the new 2 TB HD and set things up to "clone" the C drive. When it was all over, I set up the new HD as the primary, rebooted and every thing came up. At this time, it seems to be working so maybe all of my initial concern was moot! I'll let it go for awhile and see what happens. All of this with the FREE Acronis True Image software that you can download when you buy the Western Digital Hard Drive!! Thanks again for your help!! I installed Acronis True Image 2013 and set up new 2 TB drive for "clone". It recognized the "C" (RAID 0) as a single drive. Started the cloning and when it was finished, I set new drive as primary, I rebooted and all seems to be OK. I guess all my concern was moot. Thanks!!
