Cloning with 2013 fails

Thread needs solution

I installed a new Western Digital drive in an older Dell Vostro 1720. I then reinstalled XP from the factory reinstallation CDs. It worked fine. I then decided that a better method would be to put the original (beginning to fail) drive back in and clone it. I downloaded Acronis 2013 and ran it. It gets as far as "cloning" in the process and then it fails. It says to look at the logs, but I don't know where to find them.
It seems to be able to read both drives and calculate space, etc. but then it just stops and displays the fail message.
I'm running Kaspersky anti-virus, and there's also a copy of Malwarebytes on the machine.

I need to get everything onto the new drive of course and then reinstall it in the machine.

I have the same problem. Trying to clone from WD 2TB to a WD 3TB drive. Both drives are perfect. Cloning fails on last step. The log which is available by clicking the gear and then Show Log give no new information. The entry is Clone with an X in a red circle and the date. HELP!!!

Greetings,
Recommend that you follow the steps in this KB article... using Acronis Bootable Media.

Important:
Put the target disk in place of the source and clone to the new drive.
Laptop, desktop, doesn't matter. Perform the swap first.
After cloning, remove the source disk before starting the system and booting into windows.

I followed the directions up to the point of disconnecting the original drive.
I believe the drive cloned with the Acronis Bootable Media, however, it does not boot. It mentions some error and a missing drive so I'm still booting off the original source.
I'll play around with the recovery media and removing drives tomorrow. I had to prevent copying of many folders to make it work. The first clone using the bootable media failed.

The last step... removing the source disk before booting into the OS for the first time is not optional. if not done, it can render the target unbootable.

So as I left the source disk in, should I redo the clone?

You can try to boot from it, but of it doesn't work, your options are to re-do or troubleshoot the start up issue. Could be as simple as performing a start up repair using your OS install CD.
