Cloning a bootable hard drive

Thread needs solution

HI. I am using Vista Home premium and I have a Hitachi 320GB hard drive with my data on it. I would like to clone this drive onto a new 500GB drive. They are both SATA drives. I am so punchy now I can't think. I have tried to use TI 11. It looks like it makes a good copy onto the new drive, but it will not boot. I can change the boot priority in the BIOS, or just take the SATA cables off the old drive but nothing works. The Vista installation is on an OEM HP and I don't have the recovery discs. Can anyone give me the exact procedure to do it? Assume I know nothing!!!! Thanks.

Update. Success!!!! Thanks to Grover!! I had been using the Copy Hard Disc instead of Disc Clone. When I used the Disk Clone Wizard it moved my data from the 320GB to the 500 GB and allowed me to keep the whole partition. It booted immediately. I checked it by changing the boot priority in the BIOS and I even took the SATA cable off the 320GB drive. Thanks everyone.

I assume you are referring to my guides. Anyway, I'm glad for your success. There really is a lot of reference posts if user takes the time to do a little research
