Cloning CDs
Hi,
Does anyone know if I can use this software to clone a Windows 8.1 OS CD to a USB memory stick?
Thanks.

Are you trying to create a bootable Windows installer on USB flash drive? If so, I assume you could use Microsoft's own utility. That's what I used to create a bootable installer for Windows 7. You could obtain the relevant Windows ISO from Microsoft’s Digital River store.

Thanks Daniel and tuttle for that. Yes I was hoping I could clone a windows 7 system disc onto to a usb memory stick so that I can install it on a tablet computer. I shall check out the the Digital River store.
I have one question I have is; what size of file results from cloning say a 500GB HDD? Can I store the cloned drive content on media smaller than cloned HDD?
Thanks.

The cloning process only deals with the amount of data stored on the drive. If you have a 500GB drive with 450GB of free space, you could clone it onto a 64GB drive if you wanted (and still have 14GB free).
If your tablet has a USB port, your best bet would be to get your hands on an external DVD burner, I use a LG GP30NB40 drive myself for working on client's ultrabooks and such. (the current version of that is the GP50NB40)

I recall seeing a rant about Microsoft pulling Windows 7 from the Digital River ... honestly, they should have just decided to keep developing Windows 7 indefinitely instead of infecting the world with this virus called Windows 8
