Cloning a dual-boot HHD

Thread needs solution

About 6 months ago I tried cloning my 2TB hard drive which is a dual boot (Windows10 & Ubuntu 14.04). Something went wrong and I had to re-load everything on the C: drive after re-formating it. I don't know if it was me, or ACRONIS does not clone dual-boot systems. I can't seem to find any info and because I use the 2014 version, I get no help from support. Anyone have an answer??? Thanks!

Bohicaman,

The following quote is from the ATI2014 user guide:

"Acronis True Image 2014 also lets you create a bootable CD-R/DVD-R that can back up and recover a disk/partition on a computer running any Intel- or AMD- based PC operating system, including Linux®. (Note that the Intel-based Apple Macintosh is not supported.)"

So, based on the quote, you should create & boot from rescue media...CD/DVD or USB.  Then perform a backup of the entire disk, using disk mode.  Then restore the image to the new disk.

Please let us know if this works.
