Cloning fails
Is it possible to clone the internal 128 SSD of my Samsung Ativ to an external USB hard disk?
I just buy Acronis True Image 2013 to do that (the function being not available with the demo version...), but never I succeded in all my tentatives.

I have written to Acronis many times and spoken to their techs. They say it is NOT possible to due a complete "clone" and "reboot" and we argue , but it is.... I have done it many times. I have the Acronis 2013 backup program but you NEED to have/buy the "ADD ON" TI pack. Without it, it will not work.
I have been able to clone my Windows 7, UEFI / GPT disk and the process works fine..... I do it 1x per week so far.....only the {{ REBOOT }} is an issue after the procedure is done. I suggest after the computer reboots to start the Acronis cloning .... you will get a box show the process and during the clone process you NEED "check the box" saying "shut down after cloning".....
Once the system shuts down when backup is done..... you can remove / unplug the hard drive you cloned or the USB backup (which is what I use). Reboot the system and hit the "delete" key repeatedly (or what ever key you use) to get into your bios.
Once there, make sure the Windows UEFI Boot Manager is moved back to the FIRST boot device... On my system the Acronis Boot Manager tried to be the FIRST boot device (which is wrong), make sure the Windows Boot Mgr is FIRST, then SAVE "F10", click "Yes" to save, and the computer will reboot to Windows.
NOW, if your system fails..... shut down the computer, unplug the original hard drive and insert your backup drive, make sure when you reboot to go into the bios, and make sure you select your UEFI backup drive as the FIRST boot device.... it WILL BOOT to Windows 7.
On my system I actually show 2 UEFI Boot Devices in my BIOS. My main Seagate Drive, and my backup WD drive..... the WD is a clone of the original SEAGATE drive. If my Seagate crashes, I can reboot, and make my Western Digital (WD) boot to Windows 7 with no problems. Again, it is a matter of setting the correct UEFI Boot device to boot first.
I have asked Acronis to have the Acronis 2013 and the Ti "Add-on" package as one complete software backup/clone program, and I have asked Acronis to just modify their program to make it "remove" Acronis Boot Manager as the first boot device in the bios, and restore the original Windows Boot Mgr as the First Boot Device, but I do not know if they really listened to me.
In any event, My backup works fine..... just like the older days of using Seagate's Disk Wizard by Acronis....
