Cloning Fails - Error 0x10dd00e

Thread needs solution

Hello,

I have just today recieved a new Crucial SSD bundled with a Acronis True Image HD 2015 license.  I am trying to clone the fresh drive (just bought the laptop) to the new SSD drive for install.  I downloaded True Image today (I do not see the build version under Help - About) and installed on a new Lenovo Ideapad 310 with a WD 1 TB 5400 RPM drive.

Upon selecting the default options for "Clone Disk" and rebooting, the following error apepars on the Lenovo BIOS screen and no further actions commence:

" Starting Acronis UEFI Loader . . .

Runtime error:

Error 0x10d00e: Failed to find.

I Line info: 0xec492506f42e4db

I $module: bootwiz_efia64"

In vain I have since disabled "Secure Boot" in the BIOS, but to no avail.

Is there an easy workaround that does not entail downloading numerous programs and addons to create a 64bit USB boot drive?

Thanks,

Darren

p.s. I've attached a pic of the error, partitions (including Lenovo recovery) and system information via dxdiag

Darren, welcome to these user forums.

Please see KB document: 2201: Support for OEM Versions of Acronis Products as this applies to the OEM version of Acronis provided by Crucial.

Next, see KB document: 2931: Cloning Laptop Hard Disk for guidance on the correct process for cloning a laptop drive - this should only ever be attempted when booting from the Acronis bootable Rescue Media - you should not attempt to clone from within Windows, even though Acronis offers this as an option as this can result in an unbootable system if there are any problems during the process, as Acronis has to modify the Windows bootloader configuration to create a temporary Linux OS environment from which to run the Acronis clone application.

As you have an UEFI / EFI system (as shown in your partitions image) you need to boot the Acronis Rescue Media in the same mode - you will need to check your Lenovo documentation for how to access the one-time boot choice menu or update your EFI BIOS settings to boot from CD/DVD ahead of your internal disk drive.  Some Lenovo laptops have a pin-hole button that you need to press on boot to get into these settings.

When you are able to boot the Acronis Rescue Media successfully, you should check that you can see and correctly identify both disk drives to be involved in the clone operation.  If either of these is not visible then it is likely that your version of Acronis is too old to support the hardware involved.

Note: It is highly recommended to make a full disk & partitions backup of your current installed laptop hard drive to an external backup drive, including all hidden / system partitions, for protection against any errors or mistakes during the clone process.
