Cloning goes to sleep.

Thread needs solution

Good Afternoon all,

I just bought a new WD harddrive for my laptop and am using the WD Version. I have followed all of the instruction. but here is my issue.

I have it clone the HD that I have installed (Seagate) and it tells me I must ReBoot. When I do it comes up in a DOS type screen. it goes up to about 34-35% then it goes to sleep/hibernate.

when i start it nothing happens and there is no HD activity. am I doing something wrong?

DESPERATE!!!!

Best chance of success is to perform the clone when booted from the Rescue CD.

If the laptop is an IBM or Lenova, it is best that you remove the old drive and put the new drive in its place before cloning.

Also suggest that you look at this link.

Having the same problem with WD version of True Image 2010 (14.010) on a Win 7 starter netbook.
I want to clone the system drive to a larger disk.
System reboots into sort of DOS and starts cloning.
Then the netbook goes to sleep. When pressing the power button there is lot of hd activity.
No screen anymore, and suddenly it goes to sleep again.
After pressing the power button several times (after each sleep) then there is no hd activity anymore.
(when I did this the second time, I used the option "shut down after cloning", so I could notice the end of the procedure...).
The cloning worked well in the end, but it is very frustrating not to see the progress and even have to "reanimate" the program so many times ...
If it is the better option to start the cloning from a rescue cd, it should tell the user to do so.

Thomas

Thomas,
Working from the Rescue CD is a much more trouble free operation. However, if you are using the program supplied from WD, I am not sure what options are available when booted from the Rescue CD. The WD version is not a full complete version.
