Cloning A Hard Drive

Thread needs solution

I'm using Acronis 2009 and trying to clone an HP laptop drive.

The laptop makes use of the F11 key to invoke the HP Recovery routines to restore
the drive to factory defaults.

How do I clone the drive and retain the use of the F11 key.

After cloning and booting the cloned drive I get the Microsoft boot selection screen
and it wants to do a repair.

I also lose the use of the F11 recovery key.

Is there a special way to clone this drive or is cloning or backing up and restoring the
drive going to result in the loss of the F11 recovery key?

Thanks.

If the F11 function is still working from your OLD drive, do a reverse clone: put your OLD disk in an external enclosure, put the NEW disk in the laptop and do the cloning. Choose manual and do not resize any partition except the C:\system or any *user* created partition.
