Cloning hard drive hangs after restart with "Starting Acronis UEFI Loader..."

Thread needs solution

I just bought a Crucial MX300 1TB SSD for my Dell Inspiron 15 5565 laptop.

The laptop is running Windows 10.

I downloaded and installed True Image 2015, and authorized/registered it.

I ran True Image 2015 and set up to do a full disk clone.

After choosing the source and destination disks, I click "Proceed".  I'm prompted for a restart, I click restart.

The Dell boot screen appears.  Shortly, the message "Starting Acronis UEFI Loader ..." appears.

The computer hangs in this state indefinitely (well, so far, an hour).

Advice would be welcome.

Tom, welcome to these user forums.

Please see post: 128231: [IMPORTANT] CLONING - How NOT to do this!!!

We do not recommend attempting to perform cloning by starting this from the Windows Acronis application - this should only be done using the Acronis bootable Rescue Media to avoid the type of problem you are seeing.

Thanks.

Seems like a link to this would be handy to put on the single sheet that ships with the drive.  Basically the stuff I have says download the software, register/activate and install.

I guess I can't complain, I didn't pay for it directly.

Good job on that post, by the way.  Someone should be paying you for that quality of work.

Tom, thanks for the kind comments.  Unfortunately, the documentation (single sheet or otherwise) is provided by the OEM vendors who provide the Acronis OEM software with their hardware products.

My point is that Acronis should have material on line that contains this exact advice, AND the OEMs should point to that.

I know how to use Google and use forums.  Joe BoxOfRocks does not.

Regardless, thanks again for your help.

Really, my major problem at the moment is not imaging a drive.  My problem is Windows 10.
