Cloning from internal SATA to external USB connected SATA

My Build # is 6613. My specs are Dell XPS 420, Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200 w/8Gb RAM, OS=WIN7

I wish to clone my existing internal drive, fixed disk WD1001FALS-00E8B0 to a new external USB 2.0 connected hard drive, HDS722020ALA330. I have currently been using the new USB drive for backups, but wish to make the new drive my primary internal fixed disk.

My thought was to clone under the current configuration and once cloning was successful, place the new drive in my fixed disk drive bay, voila! Right? Could it be that easy?
