Cloning Linux USB drives - can't get them to restore

Thread needs solution

Hi, I have a couple of Linux USB flash drives (Mint & SuperOS), that I want to image. TI 2009 creates the images without protest. But then when I restore to empty USB sticks, but they will not boot. They seem to restore correctly and without errors. They don't even start to load.

I've also tried Drive Image, with the same bad results.

Any ideas here? How would you do this simple task?
