Cloning problem

Thread needs solution

It has not been possible to clone with Acronis True Image 2011. Using Acronis bootable media, both discs basic, there comes a message "Clone Operations has failed". Does anyone know what would be the issue? Have already detached HP Printer USb. System is Vista.

Have you checked the source disk for errors? From a command windows
CHKDSK C: /R

What type labtop?

What size are the source and target? Is either an SSD disk?

Are you using the most current build 6942? If no, download the bootable media iso and burn a new 6942 CD. Use the new CD for the clone.

What type clone procedure did you use? automatic--manual--as is ?.....

As part of the next clone procedure, use the add disk option to delete the prior partitions on the target disk.

Hopefully, you have a current backup and the backup must include all partitions. If no, strongly urge you do so before attempting any further cloning.

Have you consider achieving your clone via a full disk backup and a full disk restore method?

Thank you for your help.
Attending your suggestion: I checked de source HD disk.
It is a desktop
Both HD discs. Source disk 500 gb. Target disk 150 gb.

Source 90 gb used.

Yes, I am using True Image Home 2011 update 3 (build 6942)
Automatic clone procedure
I have just made a differential disk backup and will try the “add disk option” next time.

Have a current backup of all “My documents” on an external HD disk.

The reason why I rather use a monthly “C” disk cloning is that with the bootable clone I am able to test it and, in a total failure, get back working in a few minutes. With a full tib backup disk I never know whether it will work properly, with validation problem and so on. Am I wrong?
