Cloning question

Thread needs solution

Hi

I used to clone my main WD HDD (500Gb) to another Samsung 500Gb HDD and it was done in about 20 minutes.

Both are SATA II

As I clone the main C: drive, this is done at boot up, not when window 7 is running (well maybe in the background)

Now when I do a cloning it take 39 minutes avery big increase in time...

Any idea why has the duration doubled ?

Thanks

Ysl

Allo Lulu,
La raison est que la méthode utilisée pour cloner est différente.Elle se fait en secteur par secteur(sector by sector), ce qui représente un fichier beaucoup plus gros qu'une image.
Vous me comprenez-tu?

Are you using the same version of TI as before?

Is the amount of data being cloned the same?

Yes, exactly the same version of TI and always the same method...

And maybe there is a little more data on the original drive but does this influe with a cloning proccess (As I assume it colne each sectors of the drive, even the empty ones ?!)

Thanks, Merci

Is this vista or Win 7? They store increasingly more info as you use your PC so that it (Vista or W7) can do its new and improved restore functions. You can end up with almost twice the disk space used after a while.

I use win 7

So you confirm that more data on the drive take more time to clone it ?

But I'm sure I do not have doubled the amount of data that's why I search for an explanation to why it now take the double of time to clone it.

Thanks
