Cloning windows server failure

Thread needs solution

I am having trouble cloning a replacement hard drive in a Dell PowerEdge T110, which is running Windows Server 2008 R2 Foundation.
I cloned the current drive to a new drive using acronis true image from a CD.
When it boots the new drive, Windows starts, gets past the Splash screen, shows a cursor with a blue background (which is right before the login screen), then sits there for about 6 seconds, and then restarts by itself. There are no error messages shown, no Error Report Screens, it just goes right back to the bios splash screen. The partition table is not changed between the two drives. The cloning is done with the as is setting, so it should be an exact copy. Do you have any suggestions?

Hello Joe,

Thank you for your posting! Please be aware, that Acronis True Image 2015 (2014) does not support Windows Server 2008 R2 Foundation. I would recommend you to test Acronis Backup for Windows Server to migrate your data.

Danuta, please check if your operating system is supported. If yes, follow instructions from this article:  https://kb.acronis.com/content/45831

I would also suggest creating backup of the whole drive where OS resides and restoring to the new drive: https://kb.acronis.com/content/47165

Thank you,
