Computer Lockup

Thread needs solution

I have been using Acronis True Image for a lot of years and regularly make backups and recover of my computer. My older computer is running Windows XP 32bit SP3 and for some reason it locks up the computer. I have tried older versions and the same thing. I have tried multiple de-installation and re-installation with no luck. I have tried using the recovery manager from BIOS and that also locks the computer. I have also tried a boot CD-Rom and that also locks my computer.

I have a Maximus III motherboard that is about 4 years old. It has 4 gb of RAM on it and 4 individual SATA2 hard drive.

My new computer which has a maximus IV with Windows 7 and Windows 8 Release Preview on it works fine. I have tried 2011, 2012 and the 2013 beta. Works fine on the Maximus IV but not on the Maximus III. I even tried 2010 and no luck.

When I do install the application it takes about 20 minutes to install which is a very long time.

Any thoughts would be be greatly appreciated.

When you say it locks up the computer, what do you mean exactly? Is there anything moving on the screen in Windows or is the computer completely frozen?
