Confidence issue: "Your system is fully protected", but each log ends with an error
Hi-
I'm running True Image Home 2010. I have a System Backup scheduled for once a week. I've been running it for a few months and figured since I was seeing "Your system is fully protected" when I run Acronis I was okay. I checked the log for the first time today. Here's the .log entry I get after each scheduled backup is completed:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
""} with GUID ''} because of error 2 (Failed to find the file (folder) or the key (value) in the registry.." module="9" time="1259487275" type="4" />
I can mount the backup and restore files as needed, but why am I getting this error? It comes right after an "Operation has succeeded" message. I saw a scheduler update mentioned elsewhere on this forum -- do I need to run that?
How can I know for sure that the System Backup is good without actually restoring the whole thing?
Thanks-

Thanks.
So I can't have any confidence that I'm actually backing up my system, even though Acronis tells me I am, unless I restore it, at which point it might or might not work. Great!

Susan,
I could be wrong but I believe the message you are receiving (your system is fully protected) has nothing to do with Acronis software. This is most likely your antivirus software or perhaps a firewall. DwnNDrty is correct (as he usually is) in that your next step should be to validate the image file. You might also try to mount the image and see if that works and the files look OK. You could then start the process to restore. Walk through the screens but when you get to the point where it says proceed cancel out. There are many things that can affect this process one of which is defective or marginal memory modules. This can be tested: (http://forum.acronis.com/forum/4131).
True Image puts a heavy load on the system when it's working. Unfortunately the only true test is to do an actual restore.

Hi Bruce-
Okay, that makes sense re the "protected" message.
I get "The Operation has succeeded" at the end of the backup, then the error, so it almost seems like it's trying to start another process.
I can mount the image and the files look ok, I can restore them and they're fine. I'll run the Validation and see what that tells me. I did an extensive memtest recently and the result was no errors, so I doubt it's that.
I hope the Validation tells me something; after that I'll do the backup manually and watch the progress. Doing an actual restore to verify it makes me nervous, since if it's no good how do I get back to where I was?
I gather neither of you think running the scheduler update would help? I think it's older than the version I have.
Thanks to both of you-

The Validation completed successfully, no errors in the .log.
I've modified my backup to include a Validation at the end.
I'll try a manual run later tonight and see how it goes.
I still don't get why I'm getting an error at the end of each scheduled backup if the Validation runs fine, but I'll try watching the whole process tonight.

Just a thought, but since the error maybe suggests a missing registry key, perhaps rerun the ATI installer, being sure that you are logged in as administrator? I don't know -- just throwing an idea out there as to a possible cause for this error.
