conflict between Acronis TrueImage Home 2012 and TextPad by Helios software solutions.
Hi
There is a minor but annoying conflict between Acronis TrueImage Home 2012 and TextPad by Helios software solutions.
TextPad is nice Text editing software that I use frequently. With TextPad installed, when I right click on a file for example backup.bat the menu pops up which includes a Textpad item.
When selected, TextPad is launched with the file backup.bat ready to be edited. This normally takes around 1-3 seconds on my computer.
However when Acronis TrueImage Home 2012 is installed this same operation takes between 15 and 60 seconds.
So I tried disabling the two Acronis items in the startup tab via msconfig and disabled the three Acronis services using the services manager and rebooted.
I then attempted to edit backup.bat via TextPad again and it was still slow.
Next, I uninstalled Acronis TrueImage Home 2012 and rebooted.
I then attempted to edit backup.bat via TextPad again and it was fast again.
So now if I want to do an Acronis backup, I have to install it again.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

The TI Bootable Rescue CD can also be used to create any and all backups so you do not need to have TrueImage installed into Windows to be able to perform all the backups you need.
Installed into Windows is mostly used if you want to Schedule backups and have the convenience of a Windows desktop.
If you install into Windows, you can stop the services for Non-stop backup and Sync-agent--if you are not using these two options.
You can also stop the Acronis scan for backup when TI is started each time.

I was also having this problem when opening documents with TextPad. The instructions for removing Windows integration in Acronis True Image Home worked a treat and I can now edit files again fine.
Is this something that Acronis can fix? It seems that only Acronis breaks this so I am assuming it is your fault! :-)
