Confused if Acronis will work for my issue
OK, this will be a little lengthy so please bear with me. I have an issue with Win 7 Pro in that all of a sudden about 2 months ago, my 32 bit browsers will not run. Not IE9 or 8, Chrome, Firefox and I need all of them to run checking my websites etc. However IE9 64bit runs fine. Also, I've not been able to do any Windows updates since this problem occured. No viruses, Malware, Adware, etc. System is clean. With all the research, through Microsoft and some tech's costing lots of money for no fixes. it apparently boils down to a system 32 file named "inetpcpl.cpl". Although the file is present, microsoft says it would be missing. I tried copying it from another system but it won't allow. Everything else runs fine except for the updates, I have a recording studio with multiple systems and of course sensitive data and tons of programs and plugins etc. I'm told the only way to fix the issueTo totally reinstall Win 7 and then reinstall each of these programs would not only take forever, it would shut down my business with a big loss of income.
I need to know if I ran Acronis (which version I need I don't know either) and did an image of the operaing system HD, could I reformat the drive, only 1 year old, reinstall Win 7 and then have Acronis restore the image of everything else.
I'm not ignorant but I'm sure this is a dumb question to you guys and I apologize but I need this fixed. Of course, I'm also told I can go ahead and upgrade to Win 8 Pro with loss of programs and data, etc. My Data i.e. files are protected on another drive as I run 3 drives on this system, the music files, client recordings, music files etc. is kept on another drive and other music related data files (large instrument samples, etc.) are kept on yet another drive. So I only have programs on the C drive and that's what I'm concerned about.
Will Acronis work for me? Image the C? then allow me to reformat the C, install a fresh fresh version of Win 7 Pro and then use the Acronis back image to replace all my program data, i.e. Programs, Programs (x64), Program Data, etc. and everything work as supposed to? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much
