Consolidating freeze
Hello
Installation is win 7 true image 2013. Automated backup on a Syno NAS locally connected via LAN
As per the attached image automated consolidation (every 3 backups) freezed for unknown reason. Cancel button does not work. Closing and restarting program either. It previously ran successfully during a month.
How and i resolve and diagnose ? Spent much time searching in KB and forums without success.
Thanks

Hello
Thanks for your questions, attached are the answers :
1 - No driver has been udpated recently, either video or NAS or other
2 - In terms of disk space there is wide enough space on the synology 211J (twice)
looking for next diagnosing steps, thanks

I have the same problem, consolidation says it will take 50 days for a 400,000kb file after only 3 inc backups. This is not performance, and I can not get any help without payment, I think its time to look for another program.

@balo,
If you have the space, can you try imagin to a USB or internal dis, I am wondering if the drivers are having a problem communicating with the NAS. There have been problems with some NAS models in th epast.
@Dale C,
What type of drive are you imaging to?

All my backups go to the NAS
I am Running a QNAP 469Pro with 4 2TB drives and expanded RAM
The back ups generally seem to work, I had some problems with partition backups when I first installed, but that seems to have resolved itself.
It is the consolidation that does not work, and from the other posts I have seen it seems to be a common propblem.
If I can not consolidate the backups on the server, then the program becomes useless as I so not have time to babysit my backup program.

Dale C,
How much free space is there on your NAS? True Image needs about the size of the archive/files it is consolidating as free space.
Is your 'expanded RAM' a RAM drive utility such as Diskkeeper RAM drive, or physical RAM? If physical RAM have you run Memtest86 on it, though if you can make images it is less likely there is a physical RAM problem.

Hi Colin
I have 2.5TB of space on the NAS and again this was only a 400,000kb backup it was trying to consolidate.
My ram is physical ram and although I do not know how to test it on the NAS, the system info says it is all running and the majority is available for use.

I have the same problem with TI Home 2014. Backing up to Western Digital My Book, 3 TB with 1.43 TB free. USB 3 connected direct to computer. I have 16 GB RAM. Backup scheme is 3 differential then full backup (which sometime works and sometimes not. I have one backup that has 7 differentials and only the original full backup). I'm not absolutely certain, but it appears this problem occurs on "File" backups and not "Disk". When the "Consolidating" function starts it completely locks up the computer. I due mean "completely". I have to power the computer off and restart to stop the consolidating process and regain control of the computer.

Mustang,and others
Rather than use consolidating in your schemes, why not start over with new schemes and use the "automatic cleanup" which avoids consolidation. Automatic cleanup simply deletes the oldest backup after a replacment has been crreated. Consolidation is time consuming and putting your data at risk that it will be properly merged. I avoid consolidation like it were the plague.
Look at link 2 below and review illustration 11-Dif. Do read the text associated with 11-Dif.
The diff work for me. I do not use consolidation and do not edit or make changes to the orignal backup task.
Each task points to its own storage folder or sub-folder.

Thanks for the quick reply! I have already gone to your #2 link - wow! Acronis should compensate you for your work! It turns out that my backup scheme was very similar to your 11-Dif except I did not have auto clean up on. I don't know why TIH goes into the Consolidating operation. It is not something I do manually it just starts after the backup is validated. If you know how I could stop TIH from automatically starting the Consolidating function please let me know. I have deleted the backups and started over using your example. Note: I clicked on your link to get a PDF of your , Grover's How Create......, but no PDF downloads. Am I doing something wrong? Again, thank you for your help! Much appreciated!

To get the pdf, right click on the pdf link and choose the "Save link as" option and save to your computer. Then you can open the pdf as a normal file. Note, that the link #2 posting your read is more uptodate and current than the pdf is.
If you use the automatic cleanlup example, that will eliminate the need for consolidation by the program. Using the "store x number of recent version chains and automatic cleanup will make for automatic deletion of the older backups once the program has reached your preset limit of the number of chains you wish to keep.
