Consolidation Question
Using ATI 2010. I have a scheduled backup task which consists of daily incrementals, with a full backup each seventh day. Under the consolidation options I've chosen "automatically consolidate backups after x number of days". I assume that by "consolidation" it means that ATI is going to consolidate all the over-limit backups into a single backup. But then what happens? Will future consolidated backups be additional consolidation files that eventually fill my drive, or will there just be a single consolidated backup that each subsequent consolidation modifies?
I would really rather just have three weeks worth of backups, and then have anything older DELETED automatically rather than consolidated. That seems pretty simple. Is there a way to do it, or do I have to use chain2gen?

I don't think that's the same thing. My goal is: A full backup, followed by six days of incrementals (I would call the full plus the incrementals a "backup set" but that may not be the terminology you use, I think maybe you call it an "archive"). Then I want the process to start over with a new full backup plus daily incrementals. I want to keep three weeks worth of these backups (three backup sets), and have anything older deleted automatically.
But if I use your method and check the "delete previous backup archive" box, then I have to either:
a. Only have one week of backups, since the next full backup will trigger deletion of the previous one.
or
b. Change my backup plan to be one full backup, followed by three weeks of incrementals. This would get me three weeks worth of data, but in one backup set instead of three, which is not what I want. I want each week to be a separate backup set (full plus incrementals) so that if one fails to read later, I'll still have two others that might work.
I don't want to "delete the PREVIOUS archive", I want to delete every THIRD archive, or delete any archive that is over 21 days old.

Dogma,
This could easily be achieved using Chain2Gen (C2G) which is a helper program for TrueImageHome (TIH).
TrueImage runs the scheduling and the backup tasks. C2G provides the controls on when the full backup should be created or how many to be retained based on your choices of options. C2G offers many choices.
If you wish some help, we would be glad to assist. A good beginning can be found in item 3-B and 3-A inside my signature index below.

just schedule 3 incremental backup runs every 3 week on each, the first schedule run on 1st week, 2nd run on 2nd week............etc, use different folder or backup names, check the box create new backup after 6 incremental and delete older backup, see it will work.
