Consolidation

Thread needs solution

I am configured to do an end-of-day full backup and only keep one. Up until a week ago Acronis would do a full backup, then delete the prior, and that would take about 90 minutes (for 125 GB image). The backup starts at 6:30pm and I shutdown my PC about 8 to 8:30pm.

Also, every month end I do full backups to two USB drives, one of which gets stored offsite.

About a week ago the daily backup process started taking 3 hours. The System Tray Icon would show 0% done all the time, though at one time when I moused over it I saw it say 70% and Consolidating.

I have no idea why it changed nor what it's consolidating, as I have not changed my task for this daily backup.

When I look at my directory (My Backups) where the backups are stored, I'll see two smaller folders, one about 4 GB the other about 25GB though it varies, all indicating they were created today, while the backup is still in process. They are gone when I look the next morning. The file that remains is the final backup file.

It looks like I'm OK in terms of having the backup I want, but why is it all of a sudden taking so long and Consolidating?

Any ideas?
