After starting my PC today I get this error when trying to access the storage area.
I "removed" the partition where the storage area was created and then deleted the storage folder. When I try to "re-add" the partion for storage and recreate the storage, I still get the same error.

I had the error before I manually deleted the time explorer folder.
But regardless, How do I reset it to work again ? I tried stopping it and unselecting partitions and reselecting, but it apparently has no affect. I still get the error when I try to access the timeline explorer folder .

Is the service still running in Services .msc?
Just to humour me, could you check that you do actually have build 5055. To get the build number, press th eALT key and the help menu will appear, then do all the normal stuff.

I do 5055.
I tried stopping the service and then restarting it thru TRUEIMAGE interface by turning on contiula backup.... still no change in the error when I try to access the storage or how to reset it so that I can start from scratch.
One thing I did find out is that a bunch of files were being created in my SYSTEM32 directory... one called .METDATA (which is mentioned in the error I posted above).. and a bunch of 1.dat, 2.data, 3.data ETC each 1 GB in size. About 28 of those.
I deleted them last night as I don't know why TRUEIMAGE would be creating these files there.

Just to clarify do you have both OLB and NSB enabled (OnLineBackup / NonStopBackup) ?
I don't recall OLB making these files but NSB does and these are your image files, deleting them manually might cause TI NSB to do weird things.
The 1GB slices are correct and will eventually be consolidated into a single file and then the slicing will start again.
Having said that, with NSB you should have been able to choose the drive/partition that you wish to image to and the folder name would be TimeLine and is a hidden folder.

I am talking about NSB, I have an OLB registered but am not using it.
Why would the files be created is my system32 directory and particularly .meta which according to the error above should be somewhere else (see orginal post).
Regardless, even after creating these files, the error above occurs... looks like the system is having problems storing and moving these files to the proper directory/storage area. Why did Acronis leave them behind and store them in my windows system directory ?
These things must tie together to explain the error, it would seem.

Something as we know is not quite right! :)
NSB setup shouldn't have allowed you or itself to choose the OS partition as an image repository, after all this means it is trying to image itself.
If you click on NSB setup, select change and you should get a list of 'acceptable' and 'non acceptable' partitions to use.
At this point I suggest clicking on 'Clean Up' delete the current archive disable NSB and start again. You might want to make a complete drive image first, just in case what has gone wrong causes further mishap.
I've attached some png's to show what you should be seeing. (The W7 snip tool makes this soooooo easy to clip images.)

I can't click on cleanup ! I get that error message (see my first post).
I tried deselecting partitions and stuff. . either the deselections failed or simply had no affect.
That's what I want to do ... how do I restart it from scratch ?
That's what I wanted from the start of this post ... how do I start it again. whatever I do, it either creates those file in my system directory or gives me that error about not being able to access .metadata.
EDIT: I created a new logical partition to see if I could change the storage partition. It is listed as a "non-acceptable partition" even after trying to de-select/remove the current storage partition..
The new partition is 19 or 20 gb in size and a logical partition NTFS.

I think the only thing I can suggest would be to disable the NSB service, uninstall TI, delete the TimeLine folder and contents, and re-install.
Open a command prompt with Admin privilges and type sc_delete_ nonstopbackup (where the _ means enter a space)
I had the problem about cleanupand stopping once on a different version. I haven't tried stopping or cleanup on b5055 as yet.
