continuous
The box says Acronis True Image Back up and Recovery so I don't know which forum to be in.
Question is, should I be runnning continuous? I see no choice for incremental and I'm confused how or when to back up.
Also, how do you know when the back up frive is full?
Thank you for any help.

Since you're new to True Image, most of your questions will be answered from information in the Sticky posting at the top - the one by GroverH.

Peter,
As you say box, I take it you purchased from a retailer rather than an Acronis download.
If the box says PC Backup and Recovery, then you have True Image home edition. On the other hand if it says Acronis Backup and Recovery with a subtitle (Workstation, Server, Enterprise etc), you have purchased ABR 10.
What do you mean by continuous? Do you mean Non Stop Backup (NSB)? If you do, then you ahve the Home version of 2010 and there is no choice of incremental as it does this behind the scenes.
With NSB it will tell you when it runs out of disk space. It will attempt to use all free space available on the drive/partition that you have chosen.

I understand that I have True Image Home.
I will read sticky next to Grover.
May I ask you;
1-Is it advisable for an average user to do manual backups a couple of times a week as opposed to non stop back up?
2- to recover, do I use 'my computer', look at the date of the backupfolder created and keep double clicking it until it recovers, or
use the Acronis site and click on recovery.
I asume "save" is the same as "send".
Thank you
Peter

If you have access to an external or second internal drive, then I would advise making full images once or twice a week to them. You can automate this by making a task schedule.

Within TI if you click on the Recover tab on the left, you will see on the mainl panel (to the right) the option in the top right hand corner to Recover data from nonstop backupclicking on this will bring you to the TimeLine dial allowing you to choose which day to recover.

You almost got me there! I was scratching my bald spot trying to work out where it said save instead of send as far as imaging was concerned. Then a brainwave hit me that you meant the misnamed button on this forum - as you've found out the answer of course is yes!
